Our story
Founded on fifty years in the field.
Neil Smith and Dennis Frederickson started Neil Smith Construction in 2018. Neil brought over fifty years in excavation, heavy civil and agricultural work, from small backfill jobs to major highway projects with crews of fifty or more. Dennis brought decades of experience in residential and commercial construction and project management.
After Neil’s passing in 2022, Dennis took over leadership of the company and has guided it through steady growth: from utility upgrades and bulk excavation to school district programs, municipal sewer separation and specialized public facilities.
Today the company carries the standards it was founded on: quality work, delivered safely, on time and on budget.

16 years in the industry. Bachelor’s in building engineering, master’s degrees in project management and construction engineering. Has managed projects from $1M to $10M.

Master’s in civil engineering. Over 12 years estimating municipal, infrastructure and school district work.

Project Coordinator
Master’s in civil engineering. Supports the project managers on municipal and school district projects, including QA/QC records, RFIs and as-builts.
Hamid Goudarzi
Construction Technologist, Infrastructure Utility
Master’s in civil engineering and Engineer-in-Training with Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Utility coordination, documentation, QA/QC and procurement.
Cody Delarue
Site Superintendent
Over 15 years supervising civil work, including school district upgrades and underground sanitary, storm and water systems.
Justin McCormack
Site Superintendent
Over 20 years in civil construction. Experienced on active school and urban sites, with Trimble GPS and grade control.
Djoomart Bugubaev
Construction Safety Officer
Supports safe site operations by monitoring site activities, identifying hazards and helping crews follow safety standards.

A dedicated estimating division prices tenders, prequalifications and change work for municipal, school district and private clients.

Pre-construction
Traffic management plans, local bylaws and Good Neighbour programs are reviewed and in place before we mobilize.

Project management
A Senior Project Manager on every project, with a dedicated Project Manager running it day to day.

Field operations
Site superintendents and foremen lead the crews, with Trimble GPS grade control and digital reporting on site.

Quality and close-out
Coordinators manage QA/QC records, RFIs, testing and as-builts through to handover.

Safety
COR certified, with a Construction Safety Officer and a toolbox meeting at the start of every shift.
